Who We Are
Our Story
READ (Rural Education and Action Development) was founded in 1994 by Dr. READ Selvam, who grew up in Andimadam and was inspired to build an organisation to help his community. It began as a voluntary group registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1975, and is now registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) by the Government of India.

A just society practicing democratic values of equity, participation, inclusion and self-reliance through education.
Our Mission
To empower impoverished and marginalised communities by strengthening community-based organisations and building their capacity for self-reliance.
